Barbara Eldona Thiel

Barbara Eldona Thiel, 87, Payette, ID passed away at home June 16, 2011. A viewing for family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 21st at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 22nd at Riverside Cemetery, Payette, with Pastor James Aalgaard officiating. Condolences may be offered to Barbara's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Barbara was born Jan. 23, 1924 to A.J. and Grace Shearer in Payette, ID. She grew up in a large family with 11 brothers and sisters. She graduated from Caldwell High School and on the same day married Elmer Thiel, May 22, 1942. Together they raised five children while farming and ranching throughout the Treasure Valley, settling in Payette. They recently celebrated 69 years of marriage. Barbara's highest priority was her family who she never quit caring for. She enjoyed flower gardening, puzzles and baking. Barbara had a strong faith and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ontario, OR. Barbara is survived by her husband, Elmer; children, Robert E. Thiel (Glenna) of Nyssa, Joyce McCurdy (Don) of Ontario and Bonnie Davis (Allen) of Payette; grandchildren, James Thiel Jr. of Caldwell, Niki Edwards (Sam) of Weiser, Randy McCurdy (Wendy) of Kuna, Candi (Indra) Strong of Payette, Douglas McCurdy of Boise, Ryan Davis of Payette, Jennifer Gibson (Ted) of Pensacola, FL, Jessica Davis of Payette; several great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; and her sister, Grace Tietsort of Caldwell. She was preceded in death by two sons, James and William Thiel, her parents, four brothers, and six sisters. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O.
