Robert "Bob" Fremont Smith
March 31st, 1931 - December 29th, 2023
Robert Fremont Smith, 92, of Payette, Idaho, was called back to Heaven on December 29 th 2023, reuniting with his eternal love, Leora Ruthelma Alder. Funeral services will be held 11am, Thursday, January 4 th , 2024 at the Payette Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint ward building, 501 S Iowa Ave, Payette, ID 83661. The burial will follow at Rosedale Memorial Gardens in Payette. Robert Fremont Smith was born in Huntsville, Utah to Fremont Albert Smith and Geneva Lyden Allen on March, 31 st 1931. Robert moved with his family to Weiser, Idaho where he met Leora Ruthelma Alder whom he fell in love with and married on June 26, 1952, in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple. Robert worked on the railroad, in the Stibnite mine, and at Oregon-Portland Cement along with farming. Robert was a Master Gardener who took pride in his orchards and gardens. With his green thumb, he was able to grow award-winning blackberries, one-of-a-kind apples, and an assortment of fruits of impressive sizes that made memorable photos of his grand and great-grandchildren. Robert was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served in many callings throughout his lifetime including going on a mission with Leora to the Nevada, Las Vegas Mission and serving as a High Priest. Robert Fremont Smith is preceded in death by his parents, Fremont and Geneva, his wife Leora, his siblings Fred Andrew Smith, Grace Lavaun Smith, Mary Geneva Smith, Arthur Dee Smith, and Owen Dale Smith, his grandchildren, Ryan Ashton, and Joseph Gedeborg, and his great-grandchildren, Henry Parsons, and Levi Ashton. Robert is survived by his brother, Lloyd Jay(Helen) Smith, children, Dale (Melissa) Smith, Linda (Scott) Blaylock, Ladonna (Ross) Gedeborg, Steven (Roxane) Smith, Lillian (Ralph) Ashton, Sandra (Bryan) Jensen, Fremont (Marybeth) Smith, Roger (Jennifer) Smith, 42 grandchildren, 121 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild with a second arriving soon. Pallbearers will be Jesse Smith, Mason Blaylock, John Gedeborg, Eric Smith, Bryan Ashton, Scott Jensen, Sterling Smith, and Benjamin Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be his remaining grandsons. Robert was a family man, an example of hard work, love, patience, and kindness. His family members are filled with heartfelt memories as we reflect on moments shared dancing to Robert’s guitar music, piecing puzzles together, harvesting and pressing apples into cider, and enjoying the works of Louis L’Amour and Tolkien.
