Margarito Escalante Obituary Margarito Escalante, 73, of Ontario Oregon passed away early morning Friday, February 3rd, 2023, comfortably at home. Margarito was a hardworking, humble, devoted, strong father, who enjoyed the outdoors. He was someone who saw the beauty in nature and compassion for all animals. On his days off work, he enjoyed being in his backyard watering and tending to his plants, watching baseball, and boxing. Overall, this humble man enjoyed staying busy. He was born in Jalisco Mexico to Juan and Maria on February 22nd, 1949, with many siblings. He spent most of his life as a hardworking migrant worker. Throughout everything, his sense of humor and love of music was intact. He spent his youth working in the U.S. and visiting his family in Mexico. Margarito married Maria Guadalupe Gonzales on December 22nd, 1987, and had three children after moving to Blythe, California. After living in California for 10 years, he moved his family to Oregon. Spent a couple of years living in Burns and then moved to Ontario. Margarito is survived by his wife Maria, daughters Lourdes and Jasmine Escalante of Ontario, and son Manuel Escalante of Payette, Idaho. Visitation/Wake will be held at Lienkaemper Funeral home Friday, February 10th from 6 pm-8 pm. Address: 78 NW 1st Ave. Ontario, Oregon Church Service will be held Saturday, February 11th at 12 pm (noon) at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Address: 829 SW 2nd Ave. Ontario, Oregon

Our story begins in 1907 when the Peterson family, who owned a furniture store in Ontario, helped with funeral arrangements and sold caskets from the store’s basement. Over the years, the business has grown and had a number of owners, partnerships and names. Among them was our current namesake, the Lienkaemper family, who purchased the family funeral home with the mission of helping families in the Ontario community. ...
