Nephi J. Brandt, age 14, of Parker, CO, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024. He was surrounded by his family.
Nephi was born on September 28, 2009, in South Dakota. Nephi was born a fighter at just 24 weeks. He spent the first several months of his life in the hospital before moving into the foster care system. For the first six years of his life, he was cared for and loved by the wonderful people at LifeScape in Sioux Falls.
At age 6, the Brandt’s met Nephi and immediately fell in love with him. After a couple of trips to South Dakota, he welcomed the Brandt family into his life and made the big move to his new home in Colorado. On December 14, 2018, Nephi was officially adopted - “We didn’t give you the gift of life. Life gave us the gift of you, Nephi Joseph Brandt.”
Nephi loved bright colors and lights, especially neon green. If he wasn’t attending school or having therapies done, Nephi enjoyed being held while listening to a show or having a story ready to him. When the weather was nice, he loved walks, fresh air, and the warm sun on his face. Something that always brought a smile to his face was going for a ride in the van and the butterflies in his stomach when mom or dad took a corner a little too fast.
Despite being born with a long list of medical needs, Nephi was a true warrior. In his short 14 years, he endured numerous surgeries and medical procedures. Despite it all he would come through with a smile on his face. That smile and his laughter brought happiness to everyone who he met. Nephi is now in Heaven running, dancing, singing and doing all the things his body would not allow him to do here. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4
Nephi is survived by his father, Shane Brandt; mother, Elizabeth Brandt; nine siblings, Kaden, Kadijia, Myron, Kesley, Kinnick, Kora, Kyrie, Kayson and Kathryn; his grandparents, Donald Krivachek, Judy Spalla and Sandra Brandt. Nephi is preceded in death by his grandfather, Sherwin; Uncle Lee; Aunt Jodie and one brother, Loren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, April 12, 2024 at Mission Hills Church North Littleton Campus, 5814 S Datura St, Littleton, CO 80120. A visitation will be held one hour prior, from 10:00-11:00 at the church. A luncheon to follow the services.
If you plan to attend the Celebration of Life, feel free to wear brighter colors as it will make Nephi smile. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to donate, please do so at Hope Kids Colorado. Nephi was able to enjoy many events sponsored by this wonderful organization.
