Patricia A. Smith (Edmiston), age 90, died in Boise at her assisted living apartment, Friday, April 5, 2024, with her daughter and granddaughter at her side. Pat was born at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise on July 23, 1933, to Kenneth and Beulah (Matcham) Edmiston. Her sister, Carolyn, was born a year later on July 3,1934. The family lived in Meridian where Pat went to school and graduated in 1951. She was very involved in school with band, playing the saxophone, singing in choirs, yearbook, and Job’s Daughters. Pat started dating the love of her life, Homer Smith, after he drove her home from the fair one night. They married on February 19,1951 during her senior year when Homer came home on leave from service in the Korean War. Homer was discharged from the Army in 1952. A short time later they moved to Emmett where they lived for three years before moving back to Meridian. They had four children: daughters Terri, Lori, and Wendi and son Kenneth “Kenny” born on Father’s Day.

Homer and Pat bought a ranch in Parma in 1959 where they lived and worked until the ranch was sold in 1969. They treasured the friendships they made in the Parma and Ten Davis communities. They were active in the Kilpatrick Memorial Community church. Pat sang in the choir and helped direct the youth choir. They lived in Roswell until they built their new home in Kuna in 1972. Pat and Homer loved spending time with the kids and grandkids whether it was a family dinner, branding, camping, a spring break road trips or time spent in the bleachers watching Kenny rodeo or at one of the kids’ basketball, baseball, softball, football, or soccer games.

Pat was a hard worker and worked many jobs during her life. She started out with a paper route when she was a young girl working to pay for a bike.  She worked as a bookkeeper at various companies throughout the years including Western Farmers, Farm Fuel & Feed, and in tax accounting at Buchanan & Associates, Hall, Hooper & Cornell. She was a wonderful wife, mother, cook, seamstress and homemaker. She loved her family and taught us to value what we had. She was a loving and faithful caregiver for Homer during his extended illness.

Pat and Homer moved to Meridian in 2005 which made it easier to head up to their park model in Cascade. They spent their summers there taking up golf and sharing cocktail hour and lots of laughs with friends on their deck. They loved dancing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. After their retirement they enjoyed trips to Arizona, Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii and the Oregon coast.

Pat was a long-time member of the Kuna United Methodist church. She sang in the choir and served on various committees over the years.

Pat is survived by her children: Terri Smith-Fahrner, Lori Neddo (Paul), Wendi Homan (Steve), Kenny Smith (Jackie); grandchildren Heather Galliher (Shontee), Ryan Ketterling (Michelle), Samandra Farris (Mike), Andrea White (Grady), John Neddo (Ashlee), Jessica Homan, Brandon Homan, Maggie Smith-Davidson, Adisson Smith, Raylee Jo Smith, Regan Smith and step-grandchildren: Shasta Jorgensen (Lorens), Chaz, Joel and Jon Fahrner; great-grandchildren: Mindy, Jasmine, Jackson, Joseph, Sydni, Jake, Isabel, Bianca, Makai, Nash, Carter, Laila, Londyn, Clara, Lilia; nephews: Dave Smith (Patty), Doug Smith (Ruth), Jeff Smith (Debbie), Jeff Wilkins (Becky), and niece, Lynae Wilkins. We Entrusted Patricia Smith's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
