James Hodge James JL Hodge (Jim to all his friends) of Elmira, Oregon passed away April 17, 2013 at his home due to complications from diabetes and heart disease at the age of 76. He was born August 24, 1936 in Atkins, Arkansas. He grew up in Russellville, Arkansas. At the age of 14 he moved to St. Louis Missouri and at age 17 moved to Tillamook, Oregon. He joined the Navy in 1956. He returned on leave to his hometown of Tillamook where he met his beautiful bride- to- be Margene. They married August 2, 1958. They were stationed at Treasure Island, San Francisco, CA until his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1962. They moved to Noti (previously called Starcamp) and then settled in Elmira where they have resided at the same residence for 50+ years. James worked for International Paper in Vaughn, Or for 25+ years and then Rosboro, Springfield, OR until his retirement. James enjoyed his love and hobby of building and restoring antique cars of which he just completed a 1936 Ford, wheeling and dealing, being involved with the antique car clubs of which he was a founding member of each, working and tinkering around his property, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margene and their dog Shorty, his son Calvin and daughter-in-law Katie and their children Kody and Kayela all of Springfield, Or; daughter Sharon and son-in-law Brian and their children, Derik, Jeremy, and Tyler all of Rocklin, CA; and son James (Buddy) from Elmira, Or and his children, Lacey of Grants Pass, Oregon, and Jesse of Eugene, Oregon. A memorial service will be held at Lane Memorial Gardens, 5300 West 11th Ave, Eugene, Or on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Private viewing will be at 9am and 11am for Graveside Services. A Celebration of Life Gathering immediately following at Elmira Grange Hall, 88764 Sprague St, Elmira, Oregon.
