Richard MaderCRESWELL — A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Musgrove Family Mortuary for Richard J. “Rick” Mader of Creswell, who died Sept. 23 of age-related causes. He was 78.He was born March 30, 1934, in Langeloth, Pa., to Charles and Viola Diamond Mader. He married Dixie Lee Erickson on Jan. 23, 1954, in Yuma, Ariz. She died Dec. 21, 2003.He was in the Navy from 1951 to 1955, during the Korean War, stationed on an escort ship. He was an operating engineer for 20 years in road construction.He was the owner of Creswell Mercantile & Rick’s Concrete Plumbing. He retired from Lane Transit District after 11 years as a bus driver.Survivors include his domestic partner, Carol Fane of Creswell; a son, Jim of Post Falls, Idaho; two daughters, Becky Shiffer of Eugene and Sherri Smith of Creswell; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.A grandson, Peter Shiffer, died in January 1980.
