Benjamin SmithA memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. March 2 at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene for Benjamin H. “Ben” Smith of Eugene, who died Feb. 2 of complications from rheumatoid arthritis. He was 75.He was born March 2, 1936, in Fairfield, Calif., to Arthur and Bernice Pratt Smith. He married Jane Partch on July 20, 1958, in LaJolla, Calif.He graduated from Armijo High School in Fairfield. He received his bachelor of arts degree from San Jose State College in 1963. He served in the Air National Guard. He worked as a salesman for IBM in San Jose, Calif., and retired in 1986. Together with his wife, he owned and operated Ben’s Roundhouse Pizza in Eugene until 1998.Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jeffrey of LaCanada, Calif., and David, Scott and Douglas, all of Eugene; a sister, Georgia Shifflett of Fairfield; and six grandchildren. A daughter, Christine Jane Smith, died in 1967.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to American Cancer Society or Arthritis National Research Foundation.
