Richard Unger Rick Unger The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene for Rick D. Unger of Portland, a former 35-year resident of Eugene, who died Jan. 28 of causes related to cancer. He was 56. Visitation will be from noon to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial service and dinner is being planned for Portland. He was born March 29, 1955, in Eugene to Ernest and Patsy Kirk Unger. He married Dee Dee Henderson on Aug. 6, 2009, in Portland. He graduated from Churchill High School and attended Lane Community College. He worked as a truck driver. He also built snow chains for automobiles for 12 years at LaLede in Vancouver, Wash. Survivors include his wife and partner of 23 years; his parents; four daughters, Rochell Unger of Tacoma, Nikki Unger of Eugene, Tammy Moen of Puyallup, Wash., and Annette Smith of Portland; a son, Corey of Tacoma; two sisters, Jodie Rich of New Hampshire and Marcie Garcia of Fresno, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren. Private burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. Remembrances to the American Cancer Society.
