Alan Aldrich On Tuesday, December 11th, Alan Niel Aldrich passed away after battling pancreatic cancer. He was born on September 14, 1934, in Ada, Oklahoma to Albert and Juanita Aldrich. He was the last born of four children. Alan’s father was a welder and his mother a kindergarten teacher. He was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation. Alan met and married the love of his life, Noel Jean Weeks, when they were both students at Pepperdine College in Southern California. Alan graduated in theater and became a high school English and drama teacher in San Jose, California. After several years instructing there, he was invited to teach English and drama at a new high school opening in Eugene, Churchill High School, where he taught and directed plays until his retirement in 1994. Alan and Jean loved to travel both locally and internationally. Alan was a member of the Very Little Theatre, where he was active for several years. He was also a member of Encore Theatre for several years and was a docent at the Hult Center. He was a long time member of DaySpring Fellowship in Eugene, where he served as an elder. Alan loved woodworking and made many beautiful pieces for his home, his family and for others. He made friends wherever he went, and left many loving friendships behind. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Jean, his granddaughter, Riann Aldrich, and his parents, brothers and sisters. He is survived by his five children: Kerry of Eugene; Kipp (Cyndi) of Austin, TX; Laurie Dickerson of Fort Portal, Uganda; Tim of Federal Way, WA and Lisa (Scott) Leatham of Eugene. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, great greatgrandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his many friends and students. There will be a viewing from 3:00-5:00 PM Friday, December 14th, at Musgrove Family Mortuary, 225 S Danebo Ave, Eugene. A private burial is planned. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Dayspring Fellowship, 1580 River Road, Eugene. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
