Ovena Joyce Samuels, 35 passed away on May 10, 2013 in Tucson, AZ. Ovena was born in Racine, WI to Doris (Clark) Brassell and Tommy Daniels on March 2, 1978. When Ovena was 6 months old her family relocated to Tucson, AZ. Ovena is the youngest of 6 children (all girls). Ovena attended Sunnyside High School and graduated in 1996. At a very young age Ovena accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Agape Christian Community Church and Anthony L. Moss was her Pastor. Ovena's athletic and competitive nature earned her numerous awards and trophies in track and field, basketball, soccer, and volley ball. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. Anyone can tell you that time spent with Ovena, was like attending amateur comedy night at the Apollo. Ovena leaves to cherish and enjoy her memories a son, Daniel Dijon Joseph. Her mother and step father Doris and Andrew Brassell of Oxford, MS. Five sisters; Darcy (Gerald) Love of Oxford, MS, Kerri (Derrick) Sanders of Tucson, AZ, Elena Ross (Samuels) of Tucson, AZ, Tarashia Ross of Tucson, AZ, and Carol Samuels of Phoenix, AZ. Also, Beverly, Vicki, and Connie Brassell of Detroit MI, and one brother Dana Brassell of Oxford, MS. Ovena leaves a host of nieces and nephews. Tyffanie Fasuyi, Lateesha Love, Jessica Bennett, EllaQuay Hall, Maurice Carter, Joshua Turner, Sadie Sanders, Roderick Turner, Gerald Love Jr, Erricka Sanders, Nakeesha Ross, Katelyn Love, Kadejra Lester, Isaiah Samuels, Elijah Sanders, Elijah Lester, Amaya Lester, Cory Sanders, Levi Sanders, Treshawn Samuels, and Zion Lester. And also a host of Aunts and Uncles. Ovena also leave three great nieces, Briana Dantze, Jireh Ba, and Mya Carter. She is preceded in death by her son Zion Samuels, Grandparents Levan and Cora Wallington, Aunt Virgina Cannon and Uncle Willie Clark.
