Rebecca Rojo-Keene Died on April 10, 2013 at home after a long and courageous battle with chronic lung disease. She was born January 4, 1954 in Fabens, TX. Preceded in death by her parents, Pilar Chavez and Jose Rojo and siblings, Honario, Agapito and Benjamin. Survived by her loving husband, Tom, whom she met on a trip to Austin, TX in 1980 and later married; after they moved to Tucson in 1993 their son, Philip was born; their daughter, Anna Pilar, followed in 1996; her sister, Josie; many nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. In high school Rebecca was captain of the Debate Team, a member of the National Honor Society and was a Chicano Activist. Due to the encouragement she received from her mentor, Carol Molloy, she graduated from Pitzer College and UCLA Law School. Upon returning to El Paso, Texas she became the Assistant County Attorney. She worked in Tucson for the Pima County Interfaith Council (PCIC), where she was vital in helping to organize community action. She later worked at Job Path for three years before retiring due to her illness. Although Rebecca was disabled for many years she remained active. Memorial Mass, 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2013, with Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m., at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Road.
