Caroline Virginia June (Fritz) McKenna 1919-2012 The Queen Mother of the McKenna family passed away in Tucson, AZ on Saturday, October 27, 2012 following complications from surgery. She was the daughter of Charles Robert Fritz and his wife, Wilhemenia Magdelina (Baas) Fritz; she had one brother - Charles Julius Walter Fritz. Caroline married Edward Francis McKenna in 1945 and enjoyed a storybook marriage until his death in 1991. Together they had two sons: Kerry Charles (1947) and Thomas Anthony (1948), whom they raised in the family home on the northwest side of Chicago where she lived for 77 years. In 2003 she moved to a new home in Tucson where she comfortably and happily enjoyed her family, friends and neighbors. Mother was educated at William P. Gray Elementary School and Carl Schurz High School in Chicago. She was a past Queen of Job’s Daughters, longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and supporter of Shriners Hospital for Children and King Oscar Lodge No. 855, AF&AM. She was a founding member of Chicago’s St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church and United in Faith Lutheran Church. In Tucson, she attended Light the Way Lutheran Church. Our beloved, cherished Mother is survived by her sons, their wives, children and grandchildren. Kerry is married to Diane Tilstra. Thomas is married to Dawn (LeBoeuf) McKenna. There are 9 grandchildren and great-grandchildren all together. In Tucson, there will be a viewing at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott, on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 5-8 PM. There will be a memorial service at the same location on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 11AM. In Chicago, there will be a graveside service at Acacia Park Mausoleum, 7800 W. Irving Park Road, Norridge, IL on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 1 PM. Memorials can be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children â€" Chicago, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60707.
