Ronald "Rhino" Lee DeWitt, Jr.
October 1st, 1963 - March 15th, 2022
Local musician and Tucson native Ronald "Rhino" DeWitt Jr. passed away on March 15, 2022, at the age of 58. Rhino was a graduate of Cholla High School and studied at Pima Community College. He was a manufacturer at Raytheon and a professional drafter who worked for Infrared Laboratories and Global Solar Energy. Rhino's first love was music. Many who knew Rhino met him through the local music community where he played guitar and bass guitar in a number of local bands, including We're Here, Skin and Bones, Bust'R Blue, Vinyl Scream, and Push. He loved going to concerts and listening to music. Rhino was an avid hiker and golfer who traversed many local trails and golf courses. He had a deep love of nature and wildlife and was dedicated to caring for the environment. He also cared deeply about animals and supported local animal rescues and shelters. Those whose lives were touched by Rhino remember him as a sweet, caring, thoughtful person who wanted the best for others and was happy to help those who needed it. Of the many tributes his friends have shared in response to his passing, the most common have been "great guy," "good friend," and "one of the good ones." Rhino is survived by his sister, Robbye, and brother, Jeff, and by his stepbrothers, Stephen and Michael Fiscella. He is predeceased by his father, Ronald DeWitt Sr., and his mother, Roberta Hager DeWitt. A memorial service will be held at Bring's Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway Blvd. on Friday, March 25, at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, food, or gifts, the family asks that you consider making a donation to one of Rhino's favorite charities, the Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter and Sanctuary, hermitagecatshelter.org.
