Cynthia Kay Cox
December 26th, 1947 - April 21st, 2023
Cynthia Cox, 76 of Vail, Arizona, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2023 surrounded by her family. Cynthia Kay (Cetto) Cox was born December 26, 1947, in Deadwood South Dakota to Florence (Johnson) Cetto and Ernest A. Cetto. She grew up in Lead, South Dakota and attended Lead High School where she met the love of her life, Darwin Cox. She graduated from Lead High School in 1966 and they were married November 1966. She started her path to nursing right away; a career that lasted over 35 years, mostly on the surgical and OB units of Hospitals in South Dakota and Arizona. Darwin and Cindy started their life and family together in South Dakota and moved to Arizona in 1980, then Colorado in 1998, and back to Arizona in 2014. Cindy was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was the central figure in the lives of all her children and grandchildren. She was a strong role model for her daughters and grandkids, working hard and being tuff, while still having compassion for others. She was a dedicated sports fan, loved bird watching, fishing, camping and living each day with faith. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and brothers Ernest, Gerald and Nicholas. Cindy is survived by her husband of 56 years Darwin, her daughters Taunia (Jeff) Ongley, Shawna (John) Melton and Sonia Cox. Grandchildren: Sean (Natalie), Jessica (Caleb), Jeffrey (Aspen), James, Weston, Dustin and Carissa. Great-grandchildren: Schuyler, Cameron, Aaydon, Mackenzie and Hendrix. The family will be spreading her ashes in South Dakota at a later date.
