Elizabeth Blanche Shears, lovingly known to her friends and family as Liz, a woman of unwavering faith and boundless generosity passed away peacefully on August 22nd, 2023, in her home in Tucson, Arizona. She was 87 years old. Liz was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Shears and their two children, Donna, and John. She is survived by her remaining 5 children, Ana, Mary, Emily, Pamela, and Debra. Her grandchildren, 12 in total, 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, brought her immense joy and were a source of pride throughout her life. Liz was born on June 2nd, 1936, in Highland Park, Michigan. She was an incredibly devout woman. Her faith was her foundation and she dedicated herself to her loved ones and her community. She exemplified generosity, compassion, and selfless service. She volunteered her time and financial resources on a regular basis to the following communities, Sister Joses Women’s Center, Father Abram Dono Shrine of St. Josephs, Our Mother of Sorrows Church, and St. Vincent de Paul, where she volunteered at the food bank on a weekly basis. She lived out the teachings of Matthew 25:35-36, always extending her hand to those in need. Not only were local communities touched by her generosity and kind heart, but she was also committed to sharing her faith and love of God. She did this by handmaking Rosaries and mailing them to communities all over the country and even as far reaching as Haiti! From 2008 to 2023 Liz handcrafted an astonishing 29,183 rosaries that she packaged and mailed out herself. Liz was a world traveler and particularly enjoyed going on cruises. She and her husband, Don went on countless trips including religious pilgrimages to Rome and Israel. Liz's memory will forever be cherished by those whose lives she touched, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband and children and resting in the loving arms of God.
