Richard Fredrick McGorray

Richard F. McGorray of Gilbert, AZ passed away on October 4, 2011 in Mesa, AZ, he was 76 years old. Richard was born on August 3, 1935 in Buffalo, New York to John and Doris McGorray. Richard enjoyed a fulfilling career as a manufacturer"s representative for home furnishings; he was active in volunteer work over the years including leading neighborhood watch, working with the Area Agency on Aging, and serving his neighborhood Home Owners Association. Family was his first priority. He was an avid sports fan loving both as participant and spectator, and had a particularly great love for the NFL Buffalo Bills and the NHL Buffalo Sabres. Even more, he loved playing, watching, and coaching sports with kids. In retirement, he reignited his passion for playing golf. He graduated from University of Buffalo and is a United States Navy Veteran. Richard is survived by his wife of 49 years Margaret (Sheehan) McGorray of Gilbert and their four children: daughter Molly and her husband, Mef McKnight of Dallas, TX; daughter Colleen McGorray of Denver, CO; two sons Jack McGorray of Mesa, AZ; and Pat McGorray of Gilbert, AZ. He is survived by sister Patsy Burk and brothers Thomas and wife, Carolyn, and brother John and his wife, Sue. Richard is preceded in death by beloved sisters Sue, Kay, and Jeannie. He is also survived by numerous devoted nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Falconer Funeral Home, 251 W. Juniper Ave., Gilbert, AZ. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday October 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers the family kindly suggests donations to The Arthritis Foundation or National MS Society.
