Genell P. Bridges

Genell Bridges, 59 of Gilbert, Arizona passed away on March 16th, 2012 in Scottsdale Arizona. Genell was born November 17th, 1952 in Trenton, NJ to Larney Corneilius and Genell P. Smith. Genell was married to her late husband Alvin L. Bridges Jr August 9th, 1974. Genell and her husband planted their roots in the Gilbert community in 1989. Genell received her degree in Social work from Central State University in Wilberforce, OH in 1973. Genell worked for the Maricopa county adult probation department for eighteen years retiring from the state department in 2004. Genell's love for people and her deep caring of her community served her well in her profession. Genell was highly involved in the LDS church and particularly loved her calling as a temple worker in the Mesa, AZ LDS temple. Her Tuesday calling was a staple in her life that she held a deep affection for. Her dedication to her fellow church members was without compare. No one loved people and service as much as Genell. The only thing she loved as much as her God was her family. She was a dedicated parent and loving grandparent. She had an insight into the lives of the people she loved that no one could explain. Genell and her late husband Alvin were foster parents for many years and greatly involved in many worthwhile causes in the Gilbert community. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, crafts, exercise and music. Genell is survived by her children of Gilbert, Arizona, sons; Alvin Leroy Bridges III (Sara) Bridges , Langdon Corneilus (Heather) Bridges, (foster)Raymond Neal daughter; Nichelle Elizabeth Bridges grandchildren; (Brielle) Bridges (Lawson) Bridges and her mother Genell P. Smith. A visitation will be held 6 - 8 PM, Friday, March 23, 2012 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1150 W Elliot Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85233. There will also be a visitation 9:00 - 9:45 AM, Saturday, March 24, 2012 in the Relief Society Room. Funeral service will begin 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 24, 2012 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 1150 W Elliot Rd, Gilbert.
