Manuel "Rex" Urquidez

Manuel "Rex" Urquidez of Mesa, Arizona passed away on August 30, 2012 in Chandler, AZ at the age of 65. Rex was born March 14, 1947 in Phoenix, AZ to Nicanora Mendoza and Manuel Urquidez. Rex worked as a Material Coordinator in Shipping & Receiving at Honeywell for 25 years, retiring in 2003. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, 9th Infantry during the Vietnam War. One of his biggest enjoyments in life was his dedication to his wife the love of his life and family. He also enjoyed trips to Disneyland, relaxing in Laughlin, sports, listening and dancing to music and fishing. Rex was an enthusiastic Phoenix sports fan mostly enjoying "his" Phoenix Suns. Mr. Urquidez is survived by his wife, Carmen Urquidez of Mesa, AZ; son, Manuel Rex Urquidez III "JR", of Mesa, AZ; daughters, Gina (Mark) Singhoffer of Chandler, AZ, Marina (Tony) Andrade of Mesa, AZ; 5 grandchildren; Nathan, Stefan, Chloe, Legend, and Jacob, great granddaughter, Brinlee, 5 step-grandchildren, sisters; Lupitas Leyvas, Linda Sanchez, Ann Marie Martinez, Rebecca Leyvas, Nellie Maldonado, Ida Martinez, Debbie Leyvas, Helen Leyvas, and brother, Hector Leyvas Jr.. He was preceded in death by his mother, his step-father, Hector Leyvas; and brothers; Avelino Avalos and Albert Urquidez. A Visitation will be held 6:00 "" 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Falconer Funeral Home, 251 W Juniper Ave., Gilbert, AZ. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Falconer Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1730 W Guadalupe Rd., Mesa, AZ 85202.
