George Dennis Gabler

George Dennis Gabler passed away peacefully at home in Gilbert, AZ on January 12, 2017. George was born on November 22, 1938, in Lucinda, Pennsylvania to Stephen and Elnora (Nora) Callahan Gabler. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of second class petty officer. After his Navy service he worked for Garrett AiResearch as an aircraft mechanic and obtained his pilot"s license. He then spent 14 years with Amerada Hess Corporation in the New York area and dabbled in real estate in New York and Arizona. Of the many careers he had in his lifetime, he is most well known for driving bus for GreyHound Lines and for the City of Phoenix, combined for 20 years. He was also a member of St. Anne"s Roman Catholic Church in Gilbert, Arizona. He is survived by: his three children, Robert Gabler and his wife Cheryl, of South Carolina, Julie Gabler of Arizona, Dennis Gabler and his wife Amy, of Indiana; three brothers: Robert and Beverly Gabler, of Pennsylvania, Thomas and Joanne Gabler, of Pennsylvania, and Bernard and Patricia Gabler, of Pennsylvania; mother-in-law; Laura Meyers of Arizona; brothers and sisters in law: Chuck and Sue Gutierrez of California, Doug and Barbara Schallau of Arizona; seven grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Nora Gabler; his wife, Kathryn; his brother, Stephen Gabler Jr.; and father-in-law, Robert Meyers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Falconer Funeral Home, 251 W Juniper Ave. Gilbert, AZ 85233. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017, at St. Anne"s Roman Catholic Church in Gilbert, Arizona. An honor guard ceremony will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery at 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
