Falconer Funeral Home
Connie Maureen Christensen
March 31st, 1927 - June 20th, 2017
Connie, a long time resident of Shelley, Idaho, and former Bingham County Treasurer, peacefully passed on June 20th, 2017, in Gilbert, Arizona. She was the daughter of Arnfred and Elizabeth Christensen also of Shelley. Arnfred was a former mayor of Shelley and a Bingham County Commissioner. Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, aunt, and sister was a very beautiful person in every way. Her outward beauty was only overshadowed by her inward beauty. She was a talented singer and played piano in the Louis Hansen Dance Band for many years. Born in Shelley, Idaho, on March 31st, 1927, she was raised on a farm in Goshen, Idaho. She graduated from Firth High School and was the class salutatorian. In February of 1943, Connie was married to Commodore Hunter. Commodore was in the U.S. Navy and promptly departed for overseas duty to participate in the European Theater of WWII. After returning from the war, Commodore and Connie had three children, Clint, Cara, and Chad. All were raised in Shelley. Connie spent her life in serving her family, community, and church. A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served the LDS church in many callings. During her years living in Mesa, Arizona, she took great joy in many years of missionary service in the Family History Center in Mesa and in doing temple work in the Mesa Temple. Her lifetime of church service is the result of her testimony and commitment to serve the Lord. During her years as Bingham County Treasurer, she was also elected to and served in all the offices of the National County Treasurers Association. This included the President Elect and President, where she organized and executed the Association"s National Convention for two consecutive years. She also served as President of the Idaho Treasurers Association and on the board of the National County Officers Association. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Arnfred and Elizabeth Christensen, sisters, Laura (Monson), Janice (Judy), and Luella, her brothers Frank and Walter Christensen, husband, Commodore Hunter, and grandson, Timothy Filichia. Connie is survived by her sister, Colleen (Carl) Olsen, children, Clint (Miki) Hunter, Cara (Tim) Filichia, and Chad (Sari) Hunter. She has twelve grandchildren (11 living), nineteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Her exceptional life of love and service will be honored in services on July 1st, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the Emerald Acres Ward, 1415 East Southern Avenue, Mesa, Arizona. Interment will precede services at 10 a.m. in the Mesa Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of the Falconer Funeral Home of Gilbert, Arizona. We wish to give special thanks to Mark and Lynette Harper and their staff at Serenade Assisted Living in Gilbert, Arizona. Their caring and exceptional service will always be remembered and honored.
