Scott Wyatt Lea, 64, passed away suddenly Sunday morning July 12, 2020 after a short but valiant battle with cancer at his home in Gilbert, Arizona. Scott was born November 11, 1955 to James and Jean (Reid) Lea in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the oldest of three children. Scott met his wife of 36 years, Beverly (Ray), and they were married in Maryland in 1984. He received his degree in Nuclear Chemistry from the University of Maryland in 1977 and although his career was almost entirely dedicated to furniture, he liked to share his knowledge of chemistry with everyone. He began his long career in the furniture industry at Levitz Furniture in Rockville, MD in 1978. He left Levitz in 2003 and worked with JRM Sales and Management and Target before retiring as an Operations Manager with La-Z-Boy in Ontario, California. Shortly after his retirement Scott and Beverly moved to Gilbert, Arizona to be closer to their son James and his family. During his working years he always made sure to take time from his busy schedule to take his family on fun vacations. His son"s favorite trips included vacations to Walt Disney World and New York City. Throughout his childhood he was an avid soccer player and eventually became a soccer coach in his spare time, even coaching his son"s soccer teams. His son Steve went on to play high school football and his son Jim played high school lacrosse. Scott was involved in both teams as a team parent and made sure he was one of the loudest in the stands, often to the nuisance of those fans around him. He loved dogs and was a dog owner for almost all of his life. Whenever he would dog-sit his grandpup Maggie, he made sure to have a slice of baloney in his pocket to share with her. He enjoyed chess, trains, movies, and watching football with his sons. His favorite football team was the Washington Redskins, who ironically announced they were changing their team name mere hours after Scott"s passing. He won"t mind what they change their name to, as long as they continue to beat the Eagles and the Cowboys. Scott is survived by his wife, Beverly; son James (and his wife Syerra); grandchildren Scott, Charlotte, and Cameron Lea; sister Janet Crocker; niece Jennifer Crocker; nephews Chris Crocker and Chris Harrison, and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Jean Lea, his younger brother Craig Lea, and Scott"s beloved second son Steven Lea.
