Doyle Baker Doyle Gene Baker, age 63, passed away October 9, 2018. He was born June 9, 1955 in Victoria, Texas to David Preston Baker and Betty Arnell McCurry (both predeceased). Doyle grew up in the Victoria/Telferner Texas area where he attended school at Juan Lynn, Wood Hi, and Victoria High School. At 10, he learned to play the guitar and he and his 2 older brothers formed a band named “The Zebras”. The band was a very popular local band and performed for several years in the mid 60’s, recording a record and performing on TV. Doyle was a very talented musician and singer who went on to tour the East Coast with other music groups. He joined the Air Force in 1975 (20 year veteran) serving in Colorado, Turkey, North Carolina and Georgia. He received many military commendations in the field of Cryptology. Doyle married Sally Ann Lachowski (Dec 2003) in San Antonio, Texas where he worked as a Database and Technology Analyst. As for hobbies, he and Sally were passionate and well known locally for their house Christmas decorations each year. Their house was a traffic stopper and children loved it! They moved to Eugene, OR in 2010 to be closer to family and an employment change. He worked 8 years for Gordon, Aylworth and Tami, PC. In Eugene, Doyle also really enjoyed gardening. He believed that anything can be accomplished with planning, patience and determination. He will be greatly missed and remembered. Doyle is survived by his wife, Sally; 3 children: Donald Wade Baker (Johnnye) of Eugene, OR; Brittney Nichole Rivera (Jose) of Eugene, OR; Naomi Guillory Montgomery (Scott) of Hephzibah, GA; 2 stepsons: Daniel Lachowski (Sara) of Columbia, SC; David Lachowski (Terry) of Las Vegas, NV; 2 brothers: Garland Baker (Danna) of Richmond, TX; Scott Baker (Judy) of Victoria, TX; 12 (yes 12) grandchildren. Per Doyle’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service and he requested to be cremated. He has also requested that his children/grandchildren save his ashes and be scattered together with Sally’s at some future date. Memorials donations in memory of Doyle may be made to the American Cancer Society (Donate to Pancreatic Cancer?). The family would like to thank the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute, and the amazing nurses at the 7th Floor North Oncology department of Riverbend Hospital for their great care that they gave Doyle. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
