Cathy Jo Galt-Madewell
August 25th, 1961 - July 9th, 2023
Cathy Jo Galt -Madewell, 61, died July 9, 2023 with her family by her side in Mesa, Arizona. A small online memorial service will be held at a later time in August, updates will be posted to Brittany’s Facebook. Cathy was born on August 25, 1961 to Bob and Barbara Galt in Carrollton, Texas. Her father, Bob Galt, worked for the Dallas Times Herald in addition to being a sports writer for the Dallas Cowboys. Barbara, her mother, had many jobs throughout her life, but the one she was most proud of was being a homemaker. Cathy was brought to the Galt’s house on the corner of Beltline and Webb Chapel as a new born. She grew up and lived in that house until she went off to start her adult life. She always had her tightknit group of neighborhood kids that she grew and bonded with. They all remain very close to this day. Cathy graduated high school in the year of 79’ from RL Turner High School. After her completion of school, she spent her 20’s doing numerous jobs from being a waitress, a veterinarian tech, apartment manager and almost everything in-between. She devoted her life to her family, her faith, and helping anyone in need. At the age of 30 Cathy gave birth to her twin girls Brittany and Lauren. A short 18 months later their youngest child Ryan was born. After the birth of her children, she later married their father, Paul Madewell, in the summer of 1993. Cathy will be remembered as a free-spirited kind soul who always had a smile on her face. You could always count on her to make you laugh. She was very comical and even in the condition she was in she still found energy to laugh and joke around. Her hobbies included singing/dancing, gardening, she was very involved in the church before her diagnosis, and spending time with grandkids. She will be remembered by her strength and determination. Cathy is survived by her children and grandchildren. Brittany, her spouse Tyler, and their daughters Emily Jo and Taylor. Lauren and her fiancé Hailey. Ryan, his son Paul Andrew, and daughter Hannah. She was preceded in death by her parents; Bob Galt and Barbara Galt, and her sister Toby Galt.
