Dwain C. Mendenhall

Peacefully and surrounded by his family, Dwain Cahoon Mendenhall passed away on August 26, 2023 at the age of 86. Dwain will be lovingly remembered by his beautiful wife of 46 years Stephanie; eight children: Mariann, Susan, Lisa, Mark, Matt, Jill, David, and Kelley; fifteen grandchildren: Whitney, Kimberly, Jacob, Nicholas, Bo, Miles, Zeke, Ashlyn, Briley, Kaden, Sydney, Bridger, Paisley, Lucas, and Grayson; eight great-grandchildren; and his brother Stan. Dwain was preceded in death by his parents Art and Delpha Mendenhall; three sisters: Kathy, Jinny, and Marilyn; and his brother Boyd, whom he’d always considered his hero. Dwain was born in Mapleton House in Utah in 1937. He moved to Scottsdale in 1987 to expand the family business and fell in love with the desert. With the “best heart in all of Arizona,” Dwain found it difficult to sit still. Among his many interests, he loved Arabian horses, going to the local aquariums, collecting coins and Beanie Babies, and above all, he was an avid sports fan, cheering on his favorite home teams from his “Man Cave.” He was fiercely independent, yet loved playing games and spending time with family. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and great sense of humor. Services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building located at 9565 E. Larkspur Dr. Scottsdale, AZ 85260 at 11:00 am.
