Yukie Ferguson
June 23rd, 1942 - January 24th, 2018
Yukie Ferguson,75, of Avondale, AZ passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018. She was born in Osaka, Japan on June 23, 1942, the first child of the late Shinsei and Yoshi Kinjo. She grew up in Okinawa, Japan with three siblings: brothers Takeo and Seichi, and sister Ayako. After the Pacific War ended, Okinawa was under American rule. Yukie was working for the Civil Engineering and Construction Department of the government when she met Kenneth (Ken) Ferguson, the love of her life and her husband of 52 years. They married in Naha, Okinawa in 1965, and moved to Erie, PA in 1966 to start their new life together. While in Erie, she had two sons, James Henry Ferguson (Jim) in 1967 and William Edward Ferguson (Billy) in 1975. The family moved to Irvine, CA in 1978. She worked for many years as a production planner/buyer in the electronics and aerospace industries in California, before retiring to Arizona in 2004. Since retirement, she has worked part-time for the past ten-plus years at the JC Penney in Goodyear, AZ. She is survived by husband Kenneth Ferguson of Avondale, AZ; son James Ferguson and his former wife Sandy of Madison, OH; son William Ferguson of El Mirage, AZ; brother Takeo Kinjo of Osaka, Japan and his wife Shizuko; sister Ayako Watari of Naha, Okinawa and her husband Tomitoshi; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Japan. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren Jason and Cara Ferguson of Madison, OH, and Maya Fernandez of Avondale, AZ. She was also like a grandmother to Robert Fernandez of Avondale, AZ, and like a mother to Leticia Fernandez of Avondale, AZ. Yukie had an incredible work ethic. She was very determined. She would do whatever it took to get a job done, and wouldn't let anything stand in her way. She also had a hunger for learning. She was always trying to better herself. But it wasn't all work and no play for Yukie. She had a beautiful, sunny disposition. She was always smiling and laughing, and ready to have a good time with her friends and family. She was loved by all, and made many, many friends throughout the years, and remained close friends with most of them to this day. Friends may call at Regency Mortuary, 9850 W.
