Jane I Skromme
April 11th, 1927 - September 26th, 2022
Jane I. Skromme died Monday, September 26th at the age of 95 after a long battle with dementia. Jane was born in Wayne, NE, the oldest child of John M. Brisben and Florence E. Brisben, whom she lost at a young age. After graduating high school she taught in a one-room country school in Wisner, NE for a year, then attended the University of Iowa where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce. She joined Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria, IL. She moved to Tallahassee, FL in 1979 and worked for the State of Florida for 12 years. Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Austin G. Skromme, by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Skromme, and by her brothers, George and John Brisben. She is survived by her son, Brian Skromme, four grandchildren, brother-in-law Robert Skromme, sister-in-law Gloria Brisben, and many nieces and nephews. She was an avid gardener, cook, bridge player, and collector of British antiques and relished the seven years she spent living in Glasgow, Scotland. She will be remembered for her exceptional devotion to her family, her unique sense of humor, and the many friends she cultivated over the years. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 12th from 3:00-5:00 PM in the Mountain Park Senior Living Community Room, 4475 E. Knox Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85044, to be followed by a funeral at Grace Lutheran Church at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 15th in Tallhassee, FL and burial at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
