Raymond Anthony Christophe was born to Hilton and Gertrude Christophe on April 14, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was one of seven siblings: Herman Christophe (Deceased), Camile Wynn, George Christophe (Deceased), Leo Christophe, Revere Christophe and Deborah Bowen (Deceased). On December 28, 1974, he married Darreyl Ann Crawford and were married for 42 years. On July 20, 1974 he dedicated his life to serve Jehovah. His faith was seen in action through regular meeting attendance, zealous share in the ministry and lively comments. During his 30 years as an Elder in the Christian Congregation, he was known for his enthusiastic and stirring Bible talks, his kind words of encouragement, and his quick wit. Raymond had a passion for cooking and was known for his File' Seafood Gumbo that was quite tasty. He loved to attend gatherings, listen to jazz, and dance even when he had to use a walking cane. Anyone who knew him described him as an energetic, fun-loving person to be around even in his later years. Many viewed him as a loving father figure and was affectionately called by his children and many others as "Pops". With mounting health problems, Raymond stayed zealous doing what he could in the ministry and remaining a constant encouragement to the brothers and sisters in the Congregation, who loved him dearly. On January 5, 2017, Raymond fell asleep in death, after a long battle with complications from a major stroke and heart problems. He is survived by his loving wife Darreyl Christophe, his children Frederick Christophe, Raymond Christophe Jr., Dwayne Christophe, Desirae McNeese (James), Justin Christophe (Simone), Roniqueca Poole (Frederick III), Darrell Christophe (Cassandra), and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
