Josephine Arbuckle
April 8th, 1937 - March 19th, 2017
Josephine Arbuckle was born on April 8, 1937 in Harwood Texas to the union of Clarence and Gussie Phelps. She accepted Christ as her lord and savior at an early age and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist church in San Antonio, Texas. She moved to Los Angeles in 1968 s and remained there until 1986 where she then moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Josephine received her high school diploma at Phyllis Wheatly High School in San Antonio, Texas where she met and later married Tommy Arbuckle. From this union three children were born. Josephine began her career as a Secretary/Executive Assistant for large corporations, such as Aerojet in Los Angeles and Honeywell in Phoenix, for many years. She later opened an assisted living home for seniors and then a meal delivery service for the elderly and individuals with disabilities. Josephine had a great love for family and always wanted to keep them near. She loved to sing and she performed in the night clubs of Houston, Texas and later in Los Angeles, California. She was also a member of the choir where she sometimes sang solo at Phoenix First Assembly Church. Josephine leaves behind to cherish her memories: Two daughters, Cynthia Ann Rice of Smartsville, California and Melanie Dee Arbuckle of Phoenix, Arizona and one son Tommy Lee Arbuckle, Jr. of Glendale, Arizona. She had one son-in-law James Arthur Rice and a daughter-in-law Deborah Arlene Arbuckle. She also leaves four sisters, Flossie Allen of Los Angeles, California, Doris Phelps of Phoenix, Arizona, Pearline Green of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Bobbie Copeland and Las Vegas, Nevada. Four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
