Beverly Tribe Buck
August 10th, 2018
Beverly Tribe Buck Beverly Tribe Buck was born on June 11th, 1925 in Ogden, Utah to William & Bernice Tribe. She passed away Wednesday August 1st, 2018 of natural causes. She was 93. Her family moved from Utah to Westwood, California where her father worked for Union Pacific. From Westwood the family moved around frequently, eventually settling in Eugene, Oregon. Beverly graduated from Eugene High School in 1943 and a week later signed up with Western Union Telegraph Company with her dear friend Genevieve ‘Jenny’ Koepp and moved to Santa Cruz, California After working a short time for Western Union, Beverly worked a brief stint with the railroad as a yard clerk and shortly thereafter, in 1946, joined the WAVES on her 21st birthday. The WAVES moved her to New York. During her enlistment the war ended and she marched in a large parade down 5th Avenue. After the war she moved from the WAVES to the Hospital Corps in Bethesda, Maryland, where she helped with the injured after the war. Upon returning home she met her future husband, Jack, at a church mutual – her sister, Cathy, introduced the two and they married on August 28th, 1948. Jack and Beverly were sealed for time and all eternity at the Cardston Temple in Alberta, Canada in November of 1950. Beverly was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served as a Relief Society President, a counselor for the Young Women’s program, a Sunday school and Primary teacher and a family history worker. She started taking classes at the University of Oregon while her children were in school, graduating in 1969 and was certified as an elementary school teacher. She taught for seven years, but stopped teaching so she could spend more time with her grandchildren. Beverly loved to sing and was active in the church choir on a regular basis. She could memorize full songs and long poems and recite these verbatim. She loved all animals – was part of the Eugene Kennel Club and helped organize the very first dog show in Eugene with her mother, bought a donkey named Frances with her brother, raised a duck named Paddles with her siblings and owned every farm animal under the sun. Beverly was a humble and kind woman, with a great sense of humor. She would listen to and show love to everyone. She never raised her voice or spoke ill of others. Her love for life, amazing spirit and positive attitude were overpowering. Her husband, Jack Gordon Buck, precedes Beverly in death. She is survived by her Brother Jim Tribe and her Sister Catherine Siegmund of Eugene, OR; four children -Gordon Buck of Layton, UT; Judy Mathews and Kerry Byerly of Eugene; Brad Buck, of Issaquah, WA; fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 10th, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints River Road Chapel, 3132 River Road, Eugene, Oregon 97404.
