Valeria Agnes Marioneaux, age 96, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2020 of natural causes. She was born April 1, 1924 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Samuel and Anita (Hurst) Marioneaux. She married Joseph W. Davis, Jr. in 1941 and they had three children - Joseph III, Jennifer, and Regina. She was a loving and devoted mother. During World War II Valeria was an original Rosie the Riveter at Bell Aircraft in Niagara Falls, New York where she built 16 airplanes. Valeria was a retired nurse who worked in the Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, New York in the operating room for 20 years. After retirement in 1985, she joined Jennifer and her sons in Chicago, where she became the nanny for four amazing families - all at different times, of course. She was a Jack Daniels Squire and a member of the Tucson based Network of Extraordinary Women. Valeria loved to travel - visiting Hawaii four times, Mexico twice, Canada numerous times, as well as Italy and France. On her 65th birthday, she went hot air ballooning over the Napa Valley. Valeria is survived by her three children - Joseph W. Davis III, (Marie Danielle Leblanc), Jennifer Davis-Paige (Robert) , Regina Davis Lashley (Reggie). Also surviving Valeria are her seven grandchildren, Derrick Green, David Green, Kenneth W. Davis, Cathryn L. Davis, Demetrius Cook, Christina Cook-Daniel, and Reginal Lashley, Jr.; 10 great grandchildren, 10 great- great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Valeria was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Davis, Jr.; two brothers, Ory Marioneaux and Harold Marioneaux; four sisters-in-law, Mary “Teta” Marioneaux, Esther Marioneaux, Doris Davis-Fields and Maude M. Davis; two brothers-in-law, Marshall Davis, Alfred Davis and Willie C. Fields; Ex-Daughter-in-Law, Roberta L. Davis; and her grandson Darryl Green, (Jennifer’s son.) ______________________________________________________________________ A memorial service will be scheduled when friends and family can travel safely due to the Coronavirus.
