Donald Bruce Stewart, 88, passed away in Tucson, Arizona on December 5th, 2020. Donald was born on February 8, 1932 in Syracuse, New York. He was the son of the late Charles Stewart Sr. and Ada (Breed) Stewart. He had one brother, Charles William Stewart Jr., who passed away in 2013. After graduating from high school, Don served in the Navy in the Korean War from October 20, 1950 to August 16, 1954. He served as a member of the USS Timmerman EDD - 828 ship. After his time in the war, Don attended Syracuse University and worked at the Easy Bargain Center, where he met Shirley. He later worked at Crucible Steel Co. in HR management for over 18 years. He and Shirley married on March 30th, 1974 and lived in Syracuse until 1993, when they both retired and moved to Tucson, Arizona. While in Arizona, Don worked at Walmart for 18 years and also volunteered at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church as a reader at Sunday mass. He was also a trained piano tuner, a skill he learned from his father. He had a love for American history, and was a fan of Syracuse and University of Arizona college sports. Don was a dedicated husband, stepfather, brother, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and dear friend. Don will be missed by his family and many wonderful friends. He is predeceased in death by his wife Shirley, who died one day before him on December 4, 2020. They were married for 46 years. Don is survived by: 4 Step Daughters: Cynthia Richert of Tucson, AZ, Brenda (Dan) Luoma of Mary Ester, FL, Marsha Richway of Syracuse, NY, and Donna (David) Huffman of Sneads Ferry, NC. 13 Grandchildren: Stacia Taylor, Erik Luoma, Tammi Olds, TJ Bowe, Diane Williams, Joseph Richway, Jessica Donaldson, Andrew Richway, Todd Holes, Vanessa Richway, Tyler Holes, Brittany Richway and Jasmine Thompson 27 Great-grandchildren, 2 Great-great-grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces & nephews. 10 Sisters in Laws: Carol McBride of E. Syracuse, NY, Georgia Miller of Tucson, AZ, Nancy Jones of Tucson, AZ, Hollis Gullian of Deland, FL, Kathy Bohemier of Brooksville, FL, Susan Supley of New Port Richey, FL, and Judy Hooper Lee of Old Forge, PA. Deceased Sisters In Laws: Barbara Pascarella, Jean Cornell and Patty Collins. Don is now in Heaven, together with Shirley and their precious dog Krista. Thank you Don, for sharing your life with all of us. We will miss you! God bless you always. Funeral Service will be at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Date to be determined. He will be buried together with Shirley at The Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at Marana. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church (General Fund) 8650 N. Shannon Rd. Tucson, Arizona 85742.
