Pat Jones, 84, of Tucson, Arizona, was called to her heavenly home January 15, 2021 to joyously reunite with her parents: Claude and Bessie White; sister Sylvia Dean Sanders; and daughter Pamela Lynne Jones. Pat was born January 19, 1936, and raised in Carterville, Illinois, where she met and married Robert Jones on February 13, 1954. Marrying the year after she graduated from high school, Bob and Pat moved to El Paso, where Bob served out his term with the Army. After he was discharged, the couple lived in St. Louis, Illinois, Poughkeepsie, New York, and Boulder, Colorado, before eventually making their home in Tucson, Arizona. Loving to travel, the two toured every state and traveled throughout the world. Pat enjoyed writing stories of their adventures in Europe, China, Singapore, Russia and Canada along with a variety of other exotic destinations. A talented artist, she painted in multiple mediums and generously taught others. In addition to her art, she was a gifted singer, performing the lead in multiple school musicals and church events. Pat landed the lead role of Amahl, playing a young boy in the production of the musical “Amahl and the Night Visitors” where she was accompanied by an orchestra featuring members of the Denver Symphony. Always active in church, Pat served on numerous committees, directed choirs and plays, played the piano and worked as the church librarian. In 1985, while in Colorado, Pat served as chairman of the construction committee for East Boulder Baptist Church. Working with the architect on design ideas and coordinating construction of the new facility in what had previously been considered a man’s role - she earned both the respect of the men on the committee and a job offer from the building’s designer. A loving mother and devoted wife, Pat is survived by Robert Jones - her husband of 66 years; daughters, Cat Gilbert and husband Phil (Arkansas), Lisa Horner and husband Darrell (Tucson); grandchildren, Whitney Gilbert Red (Arkansas), Rachel Horner (Tucson) & Oliver Horner Barraza (Tucson). The family would like to thank the teams at Copper Canyon and Agape Hospice for the loving care they gave her. Due to the current circumstances, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s memory can be made to Gospel Rescue at https://grmtucson.com/donate/.
