Han Mok Yang
May 6th, 1942 - January 23rd, 2021
Dr. Han Mok Yang, 78, a loving husband for 51 years, a father to a son and daughter, a grandfather of four, and a friend to so many passed away on January 23rd, 2021 at Oro Valley Hospital in Arizona. He was born on May 6th, 1942 in Seoul, Korea with a family of five brothers and two sisters. A portion of his youth was spent growing up during the Korean War. Despite the circumstances of his youth, he graduated from Seoul High School in 1960 then pursued his academic studies at the prestigious Yonsei Medical School. After graduating from Yonsei Medical School in 1966, he had to fulfill his three-year Korean military requirement and spent one year in the Vietnam War providing medical field services. Han Yang met the love of his life, Yeong Huei Woo, and got married in 1969. They began their life by immigrating to the United States in 1970 where he completed his Internal Medicine residency at Wyckoff Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. While in residency, they had a son, Donald in 1971, and a daughter, Kathy in 1973. After residency, he set up an Internal Medicine practice in Dayton, Ohio until he retired in 2012 and moved to sunny Oro Valley, Arizona, to be near his daughter in Tucson and son in LA. During the past five years, he cultivated his passion for golf, enjoyed desert life, and traveled. He loved living in Tucson and lived every day to his fullest. In addition to his wife, Dr. Yang is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Donald Yang and Elaine Kim; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Kang and Tom Kang; four grandchildren, Leyland Yang, Lianna Yang, Calvin Kang, and Grayson Kang. Donations can be made on his behalf to Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona.
