On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, our sweet Wife, Mom, Gran, Sister and Friend, Jan Hansen, went home to be with Jesus at the age of 76. Jan was born in Morenci, Arizona on February 5, 1945 to N.C. “Cooter” Ramsey and Lorena Miears Ramsey. Jan moved to Tucson after graduating as a Morenci Wildcat in 1963. She then became a University of Arizona Wildcat in the fall. After her sophomore year, she transferred to Wayland Baptist College in Planview, Texas where she graduated with her degree in Elementary Education. In the fall of 1966, she spotted her future husband in the dining hall and was overheard declaring, “That one’s mine”. After a whirlwind courtship, she married her lifelong love, Danny. They were married on June 24, 1967 in Morenci, Arizona. She began teaching at Edgemere Elementary School in Plainview, Texas. She continued teaching for 30 years when she moved back to Tucson in the Flowing Wells School District at Homer Davis and Richardson Elementary Schools. Jan was a master teacher and had a great love for students, especially her KinderLab Kids. After retiring from teaching, her passion for education continued as she became a consultant for Scholastic. Jan loved the Lord and was a fierce prayer warrior for those in her life. She was a die-hard Arizona Wildcat Fan whose interest in the Cardinal and Navy began as a little girl traveling from Morenci to Arizona Stadium on Saturdays to attend football games. She loved spending time with friends and family, eating Mexican food, cheering on the Wildcats, playing ChickenFoot and was known to many as “Mama Hansen”. Immensely proud of her kids and grandkids, she kept daily tabs on their personal, educational, and professional pursuits. She was preceded in death by her Mother and Daddy, and is survived by her sister Gay Hawley (Mike & nephew Rage), her husband, Danny and their children, Shawna Wilfert (John) and Ryan Hansen (Anna), and grandchildren, Landry, Teegan, Jack & Brock. To celebrate Jan’s life, her family invites all family, friends, colleagues and former students to a tailgate prior to the UofA vs NAU football game on September 18th. To receive specifics on the tailgate please click here to provide your contact information and details will be emailed as plans are finalized. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that donations be made to the Flowing Wells Educational Foundation please note the “Jan Hansen Grant” in the memo line or comments, Checks can be mailed to Flowing Wells Educational Foundation c/o Flowing Wells School District 1556 W.
