Ernest H. Valdez, 79, passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on July 11, 2020. Ernest was born on April 17, 1941 in Rochdale, Mississippi to his loving parents Guadalupe and Petra Valdez. Ernest was a Veteran who served in the Army (Rank E-5) from 1961-1964 out of Fort Benning, Georgia. During his time in the military he received many awards including the Good Conduct Medal, Expert (Carbine), Expert (Rifle) and the Mechanic Badge with Bar. He was also a member of American Legion Post #1, Post #41 and Post #29. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union for 48 years. Ernest was a Master Mechanic, specifically Heavy Equipment Repair. He had many accomplishments in life, one of them being a Boxer in the Lightweight Division. His greatest passion was being outdoors, fishing and hunting specifically. Ernest is survived by four brothers: Vincent, Danny, Benny, and Jesse Valdez, one sister: MaryAnn Lowery, two daughters: Alicia Esparza and Olivia Valdez, two sons; Martin Valdez and Salvador Valdez. He is predeceased by his two sons: Ernie Valdez and Antulio Valdez, his mother: Petra H. Valdez, his brothers: Jose Valdez and Pedro Valdez, and his sister: Marylou Montalvo
