Robert Doerr Bob died on November 13, 2017. He was born April 7, 1918 in Los Angeles, California. His mother, Frances, father Harold, brother, Harold, and sister, Dorothy, have all predeceased him. He married Monica R. Doerr on October 24, 1937, in Cheshire, Oregon. She predeceased him on December, 17, 2003. Bob graduated from Fremont High School in Los Angeles, California. He moved to Oregon in 1936, where he purchased property on the Rogue River near Agness, Oregon, and met Monica. He always loved fishing the Rogue until just the last few years. He played major league baseball for the Boston Red Sox from 1937 through 1951. He spent part of 1944 and all of 1945 in the US Army. Subsequent to 1951 he scouted for the Boston Red Sox and coached them from 1967-1969. He also coached the Toronto Blue Jays from 1977-1981. He was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986. He leaves one son, Don Robert Doerr, Daughter-in-Law, Wendy Dame, two grandchildren, Brad Doerr (Jennifer, spouse) and Mischel Lowenberg (Jason, spouse), and 4 great-grandchildren, Jackson Doerr, William Doerr, Allison Lowenberg, and Reese Lowenberg; and nieces and one nephew. A special thank you is expressed to the wonderful care providers at the Junction City Retirement & Assisted Living Community, Peace Health Hospice, Shuree Sleeper and Rosie Hunt. A celebration of Bob's life will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 3:00 pm, at the First Baptist Church, 3550 Fox Meadow Rd., Eugene, OR. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
