Victoria Vaughan
July 1st, 1950 - February 27th, 2023
Victoria Sue Vaughan, 72, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023. She was a loving daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. Victoria was born in Lafayette, Indiana on July 1, 1950, to Thomas and Marie Vaughan who preceded her in death as did her brother Michael. The family relocated to Woodland Hills, California when she was young. Victoria graduated in 1967 from William H. Taft High School. In her early 20s she moved to Oregon spending time in Salem and Eugene where she made lifelong friends. She fell in love with the northwest. She graduated from the University of Oregon where she studied psychology. For a short time, Victoria lived in Hawaii. She moved to Tucson to care for her parents and then made Tucson her home. She attended the University of Arizona where she earned a master’s degree in special education and rehabilitation in 1994. Victoria was passionate about teaching children with disabilities in Nevada and Arizona. She was dedicated to her work as a special educator giving each of her students unique attention while supporting them to maximize their independence. A lover of animals and humanity, Victoria supported many causes. Though her health declined steadily over the years, she was ever optimistic that soon she would feel better. Victoria leaves behind a large family, friends, and medical staff who will all miss her kindness and smile. Victoria, her parents, and brother will be laid to rest in Lafayette, Indiana as was her wish. To honor Victoria consider donating to the American Cancer Society, Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, World Central Kitchen, Pima Animal Care Center, or a charity of your choosing.
