James Thomas Applegate

James Thomas Applegate was born in Marion, Ohio on October 4, 1970, to William (Bill) and Mary Ann Applegate who preceded him in death as did his brother Jeff. The Applegate family relocated to Tucson, Arizona when Jimmy was five years old. He attended Canyon del Oro High School where he served as senior class president, and met the love of his life, Shelley Scurran. Their paths diverged for many years, finally reuniting in 2014 and marrying in 2019, becoming a family of four including Shelley’s two boys, Julian and Finn Robinson. Jimmy worked for U-Haul for over 30 years, rising through the ranks as a key employee until his most recent position as their Senior Data Engineer in Phoenix. We are very proud of Jimmy for all he’s accomplished and the life and home he had built for his family. His heart was always in the right place. Along with his family, Jimmy loved animals, especially cats. Jimmy was brilliant, funny, mischievous, generous, and innovative, always working on the creative projects he loved. He will be greatly missed by Shelley, Julian, and Finn, as well as his brother John and wife Christina Applegate, sister Cathy and husband Thomas G. Rex, Aunt Nancy Dick and many friends and extended family.
