Frank was born August 9, 1936 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Violet Martha (Knospe) Hall and Dr. Frank Wilburn Hall. After graduating from Cape Girardeau High School, he attended college for two years, and then joined the Army. He was assigned to Finance School in Indianapolis, served in Korea while attached to the 30th Finance Distribution Section at Fort Sill, and served in Germany while attached to the 5th Finance Distribution Section. After leaving the Army, he and his wife, Ethel, settled in St. Louis, MO where they lived until relocating to Tucson in 2016. Frank loved race cars, fighter jets, and road trips. He was a starter and corner marshal for the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), served as the Regional Executive for the St. Louis Region SCCA, and won several of the Region’s awards. He attended over 30 Indianapolis 500s, NASCAR races in 5 different cities, and the 2005 F1 United States Grand Prix. He attended air shows whenever he could and especially enjoyed the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds. Of course, he was always ready for a road trip, whether it was crisscrossing the country or exploring local backroads. Frank also loved diners, country music, crossword puzzles, and telling anyone who would listen how proud he was of his grandsons. He was predeceased by his parents and one sibling, Roland. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ethel (née Daume); daughter Melissa (Scott); grandchildren Jonathan (Lena) and Jason; brothers Jim (Cyndy) and John (Jerre); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Frank opted to be cremated, and no services are scheduled at this time. If you are so moved, we suggest donations to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or the American Diabetes Association (https://diabetes.org), as Frank was personally impacted by both heart disease and diabetes.
