Orval Francis Baldwin II

Orval Francis Baldwin II, 68, of Oro Valley, Arizona, was born October 24, 1954, in Topeka, Kansas. He died August 15, 2023, in Tucson, Arizona. .He is survived by his wife Mary Cohlmia-Baldwin and his four sons: Blake (and Cathy), Tyler (and Lisa with children Preston, Jaci, Tyler & Lydia), Cameron (son Beckett) and Sergeant Ray Baldwin (and Jaylyn). Orval was the son of Josephine Hollingsead-Baldwin and Orval Francis Baldwin. He is survived by his five siblings: Paul (and Lee) Metzenthin, George (and Jean) Metzenthin, Betty Jo (and Randy) Marling, Bill (and Maggie) Baldwin, and Jo Ann (and Keith) Siemsen. Orval earned a Bachelors in Arts from Washburn University in 1976 where he was on the honor role and earned his law degree with honors from the University of Kansas in 1979. Orval, or “OB” as he was known to his work colleagues, had a wonderful career both at Chevron & PDC Energy. He worked very hard in his professional life. The outpouring of notes read: He was not only my boss but my mentor and friend. He taught me patience and active listening. Orval had an incredible quirky sense of humor. One of his sayings “Hurt, embarrassed, need an attorney?” Orval was married to the “Love of his Life” Mary, for 27 years. OB loved to bask in the warm sunshine and contemplate life. He made it his mission to scope out and research every area of interest before traveling to any destination, and as a result, he made every getaway an unforgettable adventure. He was an avid reader, a history buff, and a sports enthusiast. Orval contributed a story about his Great-grandmother called “A Mormon Bride In The Great Migration” in the published book “Nebraska History” Spring 1977. Orval thoroughly enjoyed delivering food to people in need with “Meals on Wheels”. He was a very loving and devoted husband, dad, son, brother, boss and friend. O.B. positively impacted and touched the lives of many people. He is gone far too soon, and he will be greatly missed. Services will be held at 10:00AM August 26 at Adair Funeral Homes in the Avalon Chapel @ 8090 N. Northern Ave., Tucson, AZ. 85704. The service will be lead by George Metzenthin, Orval’s brother.
