Jean G. Higgins,Jean Genkinger Higgins, 101, beloved wife, mother, nana and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2013. Jean was born November 5, 1911, in New Castle, PA. Preceded in death by her husband, Mark B. Higgins; son, Patrick M. Higgins; and daughter, Joan M. Higgins. Jean is survived by her three children, Mike Higgins of Pittsburgh, PA, Mary Ann Rooze of Venice, FL, and Susan Taraba of Tucson, AZ. Her life was filled with love for her late husband, Mark, and her five children, nine grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Jean spent most of those parenting years in Pittsburgh, PA. Retirement moved Mark and Jean to Tucson, AZ, in 1973. In Tucson she enjoyed her needlepoint, loved the beauty of nature and the desert, and the Catalina Mountains. Mark and Jean believed in helping others through their Scholarship Funds, the Foundation they created, and the many Charities they supported throughout their lifetime together. Even after the loss of her husband in 1987, Jean still kept up with her Charitable donations. She was a lifetime member of the local Christ Child Society, and hand knit numerous caps for the preemie babies they supported. Jean's beautiful smile and gracious manner will be missed by many. Memorial Service will be announced. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.
