Margaret "Peggy" Ann Holleman
December 5th, 1933 - January 25th, 2014
Dr. Margaret Ann Holleman "Peggy," died January 25, 2014, in her home. Born December 1933, in Uniontown, PA, she had lived in Tucson since 1970. Peggy was predeceased by her first husband, Navy veteran Lt. Robert Holleman, and is survived by their three children, Dr. Linda Demer, cardiologist at UCLA; David Holleman (Miriam) of Orlando, FL; Christopher Holleman (Lucinda Woods); grandsons, Greg and Ricky Demer and Sam Holleman; sister, Kathy Boyd of Orlando; brother, Robert of San Diego; her present husband, Bernard Decker; stepchildren: Christopher Decker of MA; Elizabeth Decker of Denver; Dr. Paul Decker (Dr. Janice Pilon) of NH; Carolyn Hogan (Kevin Hogan) of MI; step-grandchildren, Megan, Erin and Brendan Hogan; Katie and Reilly Decker; and "adopted" families Lone and Bob Webb of Reno and Jim and Maxine Hoffman of CO. She received her BA from the U. of Florida, her MA in English from ASU and MS in Library Science and PhD in Higher Education from the UA. She served as Director of Library Services at Pima Community College (1976-2001); Member of the Publications Committee and National Chairperson (1994-1996) for a section of the Association of College and Research Libraries; and Editor of Community and Junior College Libraries. In 1996, she received a Leadership Achievement Award from the American Library Association. She belonged to the Junior League of Tucson, Skyline Woman's Club, and Westward Look Tennis Club. She was a docent at the Tucson Museum of Art, member of the Altar Guild at St. Philip's in the Hills Church. Since 2001, she was a docent at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, where she enjoyed demonstrating animals for visitors -- from snakes to Harris's Hawks. Those who knew her well were very aware of her sense of humor. She loved family, friends, reading, research, bridge and tennis. What many people might not know is the courage she showed in her battle against cancer and a spinal cord injury. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. at St. Philip's Church, Fr. Gregory Wyes presiding. The family requests that memorial gifts be made to Wildlife Rehab of Northwest Tucson, care of Janet Miller, 3690 Hills of Gold, Tucson, AZ 85745. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.
