Mary H. Birmingham, born June 7, 1937, in Paris, Texas, to William and Bess Thompson and passed away February 11, 2014, at age 76. She is survived by husband, John,of 47 years; their children, Brian, Anne (Mark), and Julie (Jason); grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Melanie, Heather, Matthew, John and Luke; and sister, Frances. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, John. Mary received BA and MBA degrees in education from Northern Colorado University. She was both a public and private elementary schoolteacher for over 30 years in the states of Montana, Colorado, Arizona and Washington. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5150 N. Valley View Road, Tucson, AZ 85718, on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. Reception for family and friends to follow in the church hall. Private interment at Holy Hope Cemetery Mausoleum will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sisters of the Poor, 1900 Mark Avenue, Gallup, NM 87301, or Casa de la Luz Hospice Foundation, 7740 N. Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85704.
