DEMPSEY, Elbert Earl, passed away in Tucson, Arizona, on March 30, 2014. He was born in Equality, Illinois, on November 20, 1925, to Madeline Wright Dempsey and Elbert Cleveland Dempsey. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Lou Dempsey Sullivan; brother-in-law, Dale Harlan Sullivan; brother, John William Dempsey; sister-in-law, Winifred Wenzel Dempsey; and nephew, David Earl Dempsey. He is survived by his brother, Cedric Warren Dempsey, and sister-in-law, June Luke Dempsey of La Jolla, California; as well as nieces, Patty Sullivan Carlson and Lynn Sullivan Harper of Harrisburg, Illinois, Sara Sullivan Wettaw of Mooresville, North Carolina, Barbara Dempsey Kaminski of Wayne, Michigan, Sister Helen Marie of Spokane, Washington, Linda Dempsey of Lodi, California, Marcia Kay Dempsey of El Cajon, California; nephew, Kenneth David Dempsey of Wayne, Michigan; as well as numerous grand- and great-grand nieces and nephews. Elbert Earl was an administrator at Wayne County General Hospital Wayne, Michigan, until his retirement in 1973, when he relocated to Stockton, California. He moved to Oracle, Arizona, in 1988, where he lived for the past 26 years. He was a member of the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1952. A family Memorial Service will be held in Harrisburg, Illinois, this summer. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
