Betty Sheets
November 5th, 2017
Betty Sheets Betty Ann Sheets went to be with our Lord on Oct. 14, 2017, just 2 days before her 83rd birthday. She passed away peacefully at home with family by her side. Betty was an only child born to Lyle and Beulah Zeigler of Brewster, Nebraska, on Oct. 16, 1934. She graduated from Brewster High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart David "Doyle" Sheets. Betty is survived by her best friend and husband Doyle of 64 blissful years, their four children, Galeen (Rick) Calicott, Noreen (Ross) Tietje, LaDonna (Bruce) Cutshall and Darrell (Shannon) Sheets, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and an aunt. Betty loved being a wife, full-time mom and home maker. She was an in-home childcare provider for many years and stayed in touch with those families. Betty is remembered for always extending generosity and kindness, her example of loving people first, offering grace and being a vessel of God's love. She was a Sunday school teacher, camp cook, VBS teacher, volunteered with youth ministries, in schools and around the community. There are too many qualities of this woman to mention. Betty and Doyle always had an open door policy, with a meal and a story to share, or cookies, coffee and a mean card game of "Hand and Foot". They enjoyed garage sales, bargain hunting, cheering on the Ducks "O" and spending time with family and friends. Betty and Doyle attended First Baptist Church of Crescent, since moving to Crescent, Oregon. They were members of Norkenzie Church of Christ and Garden Way Church, both of Eugene. Betty and Doyle have touched many lives through their example of hospitality and love. Doyle and family would like to honor Betty with a "Celebration of Life" Nov. 5th, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Crescent: 136463 Main St, Crescent, Oregon, 97733 or Nov. 11th, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Garden Way Church: 231 N Garden Way, Eugene, Oregon, 97401 We invite you to come share a story, or a memory you have of Betty, with us. Dessert and coffee will follow. At Betty’s request, no flowers, please. Internment will take place privately at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene, Oregon.
