Edward Elmer Carson Edward (Ed) E. Carson, Eugene, Oregon passed away September 6, 2017 as the result of age related causes. He was born and raised on a farm near LaPorte, Indiana. Following graduation from LaPorte High School, he served three years in the US Air Force. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture in 1953, a Master’s Degree in 1956 and PhD degree in Agriculture Economics in 1963 all from Purdue University. He served as an Agricultural Extension Economist at Purdue University from 1955 to1983 conducting education programs for the farmers of Indiana regarding farm business management. Following his retirement from Purdue, he resided in Denver, Colorado, Oceano, California and Eugene, Oregon. While residing in California he was an agricultural appraiser for the San Luis Obispo County Assessor’s Office for 10 years. He was active in the “Five Cities” community assisting at the county library, serving on the Board of Directors for Achievement House and on the Board of Directors for the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County, and working countless hours restoring the Octagon Barn. Ed was preceded in death by his son David Carson, second wife Anita MacEnterfer Denning Carson, his brother Russell Franklin Carson, and sister Barbara Ann Carson Glen Gainsway. Surviving are his children Diana Olson of Eugene, Oregon, Deborah Fenton of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Thomas Carson of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and Daniel Carson of Winchester, Massachusetts, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, his first wife Marion Carson of Tarpon Springs, Florida, brother John Carson, of Layton, Utah, sister Sally Granberry of Auburn, Alabama, step children and numerous extended family members. Donations can be made to The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County, Octagon Barn Center or your favorite charity. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
