Carolyn Hartman Carolyn Joyce Hartman of Eugene passed away peacefully on Monday, August 28 at the age of 76, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jim and Alice Van der Stein the youngest sibling to one sister; Gloria and one brother; Jim. Her family moved to Oregon when she was a small child and settled in Medford. Carolyn worked as a CNA at Providence Hospital until moving to Eugene with her husband and two daughters in 1972. She then worked the night shift as a home health CNA until injuring her back in the 80’s. An active member of First Baptist Church in Eugene, Carolyn loved to sing and was part of the choir for nearly 30 years. She was also at one time a member of Sweet Adeline’s International. Other hobbies included dancing with the Emerald Empire Square Dancers during the 80’s and 90’s and taking her grandchildren to Dairy Queen often. Carolyn was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by many. She is survived by two daughters; Shirley Baszler and Sherry Swezey, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and fiancé, Wayne Wymore. A service to honor her life will be held at Lane Memorial Gardens on Saturday, September 2nd at 11am with a viewing at 10am and graveside after.
