IRWIN, Richard Connel 1947 - 2016 Age 69, passed away on April 26, 2016. Richard was born on March 22, 1947 in Los Angeles, CA. He is survived by his wife, Susan; stepdaughter, Melissa; cousins and many dear friends. Richard was an "army brat" who spent time in NC, WA, CA before settling in Phoenix in his teen years. He attended Phoenix College and the University of Phoenix where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Management. He was an industrial engineer throughout his career working at Allied Signal, Motorola, Hughes and Raytheon. He was a specialist E-5 in the US Army serving two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, serving in various capacities on the Board, including President of the local chapter. He was also very active in his local church community and in his HOA. Richard and Susan traveled extensively during their retirement years enjoying Italy, the East and West Coast of US and his beloved Greer each summer. A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 7570 N. Thornydale Rd., Tucson, AZ 85741. Donations in his memory may be made to the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or the Interfaith Community Services (ICS) Food Bank, both favorite projects of his.
