Larry Dale Avants
November 1st, 1951 - May 25th, 2016
AVANTS, Larry Dale from Oro Valley, AZ passed away at home peacefully on May 25, 2016, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He had valiantly fought an aggressive form of brain cancer for two ½ years. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Rena; their three children, his mother Margie, his brother and sister and numerous nephews and nieces, as well as friends and neighbors. He joined his Lord in heaven along with beloved brother, Keith; nephew, Jacob; father, Oscar; uncle "little" Gene and his beloved granddaughter, Liana Rain; as well as many German Shepard angels. Larry was born in Weatherford, OK on November 1, 1951; graduated from Ray HS in Kearny, AZ in 1969. He received his BS from ASU in 1973. While earning his degree he fought fires throughout the southwest as a member of the Flagstaff Hotshots. Afterward he joined the Army in 1979 and graduated flight school in 1980. Larry is a retired Master Army Aviator and a Gulf War Veteran and was part of the distinguished Flying Tigers, 4-229th Battalion. Larry loved life and enjoyed many outdoor sports activities. He will be severely missed as he was a joy to those who knew him and couldn't help but love him. Memorial Service with Military Honors, Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.
